A Little More Background

Sound / Picture Editor

I’m well-versed as both a short & long-form editor - with a cinematic eye and a sound designer’s ear. With a lifetime of over 18,000 post-production hours crafting picture, sound, and color, I specialize in documentary-style and music-driven storytelling. It should always be about showing - not telling - the story’s narrative through disciplined pacing, intentional audio, and a narrative cut that earns your emotion. And if bespoke motion design is what your production calls for — created by a long-time motion artist collaborator, I offer elevated levels of graphic design & animation. Creative Producer

I began professionally shooting and editing music videos for popular bands in the Minneapolis music scene in the early 2000’s. Beginning with a popular act named Wookiefoot, I moved to producing Electronic Press Kit videos & Direct-to-DVD sale videos for bands like Gingerjake. This quickly lead to an office next to Prince & The Revolution drummer Bobby Z in Todd Fitzgerald & Lionel Hick’s Winterland Recording Studios in the Minneapolis area of Minnesota. I went on to plan, budget, help shoot, & then edit music videos, promos, short films, and documentaries in their Minneapolis-London video department for a total of over 10 years. From there, I moved to Seattle & worked in adjacent fields for a time. I eventually decided to freelance as a Creative Producer, Editor, and Consultant.

Technical Artist

This is where adjacent skills as a technician come into play. I’m a keen troubleshooter with thousands of professional hours on the technical side of Audio / Video & Network, which almost always comes in handy during the life-cycles of production. I’m a massive fan of creative solutions to many technical problems that occur during production. And I think about design like an engineer — but see math like an art-form. Because there are typically two ways to solve a problem on a production: throw more money at it — or get more creative.
